THE COMPANY

Peter Owen, the Director of Expathealthdirect Limited, moved to the South of France in 1993 after 20 years in the British Army. An intended sabbatical of a year after his military service has extended to permanent residence in France.

In 1995 he was involved, in an administrative capacity, with the setting up of the first ISP in the South of France and it is from this beginning that his career in e-commerce began with a particular emphasis in the health and travel insurance fields. In 1998 he co-founded the website travelcoverdirect.co.uk which was the first fully on-line travel insurance service in the world. He terminated his directorship of Travelcoverdirect.co.uk Limited in May 2001 but still retains a major shareholding.

With new legislation now in force in France in respect of healthcare, Expathealthdirect Limited was incorporated to meet the particular requirement of advising expatriates on the consequences of these laws. He has the valuable personal experience of obtaining the "carte de sejour" and registering with the "Caisse Assurance Primaire Maladie".

The insurance aspect of the business is in co-operation with the French Office of Goodhealth Worldwide Limited and ASTTRAL SA of Marseille. The latter are accredited brokers of Lloyds of London.
